Choosing a band name is never easy but we've become rather attached to the name Road Rises Up.

The name Road Rises Up is lifted from a traditional gaelic blessing:

      May the road rise up to meet you.
      May the wind be ever at your back.
      May the sun shine warm upon your face
      and the rain fall softly on your fields.
      And until we meet again,
      may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

We chose this name because it reflects our love of Irish music, because it embodies a spirit of goodwill, because it has a down to earth feel, and because we feel it's honesty and simple beauty also characterises some of our music.
